Diabetes

Diabetes Insipidus

  • This disease is not the same as regular diabetes (or diabetes mellitus).  This disease occurs when the kidney is unable to concentrate urine.  It is characterized by excessive urination of very dilute urine.  It does not relate directly to blood sugar, but to a hormone imbalance.

Diabetes Mellitus

  • The medical term for Diabetes.

Diabetic Coma

Diabetic Retinopathy

  • A common complication from diabetes, diabetic retinopathy is damage to the blood vessels in the eye’s retina.  It can lead to blindness or blurred vision.

Dietetic

  • Relating to a diet, particularly a special diet.  Foods labelled dietetic are not necessarily appropriate for diabetics.

Dyslipidemia

  • Having abnormal cholesterol or blood lipid levels.  Dyslipedemia can be a warning sign of diabetes.
